BruinCloud Researcher Enablement Series – Session 1: Get Started with Google Cloud and Gemini
April 30 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
The BruinCloud Research Enablement Series is a three part virtual program designed for faculty researchers and research staff who want to use AI and cloud tools available through BruinCloud.
BruinCloud is UCLA’s secure platform for accessing industry leading cloud services in a compliant research environment. This spring’s enablement series highlights Google Cloud Platform and Gemini, providing practical guidance, UCLA research examples, and clear pathways for getting started.
The series supports researchers who are interested in reducing time to first experiment, scaling computational and data intensive workflows, and applying AI tools to research across disciplines.
Session 1 provides an introduction to launching research workflows on Google Cloud through BruinCloud. Participants will learn how access works, what services are available today, and how UCLA researchers are applying these tools in practice.
Topics include:
• Overview of AI and cloud tools available to UCLA researchers
• Accessing and setting up Google Cloud through BruinCloud
• Examples of using Gemini and NotebookLM to support research workflows
• Introduction to Google Cloud Skills Learning Paths for continued self paced learning
• Next steps for support, training, and follow up engagement
