SUMMARY:Modern Methods Development with protocols.io
DESCRIPTION:Developing clear\, detailed methods is essential to research success\, yet the process is often time-consuming and challenging. Whether you’re adapting an existing protocol\, optimizing a new technique\, or ready to share your detailed method\, protocols.io can help. \nGuest speaker Mericka McCabe\, PhD will share how protocols.io and its new AI-powered features can help streamline methods development\, enhance your protocols\, and better equip you for broad and effective methods sharing. \nSpeaker: \nMericka McCabe\nAssociate Scientific Engagement Manager\, protocols.io

SUMMARY:The Double-Edged Sword: Adopting Federated AI in Medicine Without Disrupting Care
DESCRIPTION:Federated computing promises to unlock collaborative medical research while preserving data sovereignty. The reality is messier. \nThis talk offers a candid practitioner’s view of implementing federated AI systems for rare disease research—from the diagnostic pipeline to molecule design—including the coordination overhead\, the technical debt\, and the political minefields that rarely appear in architecture diagrams. \nFor institutions beginning their federated journey\, I’ll share lessons from the rare disease community\, where researchers have been pushing this envelope out of necessity rather than choice. \nSpeaker: \nStanley Bishop\nScientist in Residence\, UCLA; Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer\, Rare Molecule Foundry

SUMMARY:The Data Rescue Project: Protecting Public Access to Public Data
DESCRIPTION:Public data from governmental agencies like the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Dept. of Education is increasingly at risk. This talk details the Data Rescue Project (DRP)\, a concerted effort by librarians and archivists to preserve at-risk public U.S. governmental data. We will cover the DRP’s progress as a data rescue clearinghouse: \nrunning volunteer training\, utilizing ICPSR’s Data Lumos repository\, and operating the Data Rescue Portal to track rescued datasets. Learn what we are doing and how you can contribute to public data preservation efforts. \nSpeaker:  \nLena Bohman –  Steering Committee Member\, Data Rescue Project
