  • Whether you’re looking to enhance your paper, learn your community’s history, or trace your family tree, primary sources are a vital resource for any researcher looking to engage with the past and present. If you’ve ever been intimidated by archival spaces or had difficulty finding specific sources, UCLA Library is here to help. Join Kelsey Brown and Kate Ridgewell as they guide you through enriching your research by understanding, finding, accessing, and incorporating primary sources. This lecture-based workshop is designed for students and researchers with little to no experience with primary sources and will not be recorded. This workshop will be offered via Zoom. If you’re registered, you’ll receive the Zoom invitation information the day before the workshop. »

The National Institutes of Health’s AIM-AHEAD program was established to create mutually beneficial and coordinated partnerships that empower researchers and communities across the United States in developing AI/ML models and enhancing the capabilities of this emerging technology. As part of this effort, Christian Cabunag, will highlight the AIM AHEAD West Hub, housed at UCLA, which supports research, training, and community partnerships across the region. Following this introduction, we will showcase the work of one of our AIM AHEAD Awardees, Dr. Yun “Sherry” Wang, Assistant Professor at Chapman University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Wang will present her research, Algorithmic Opacity in Opioid Risk Scoring: Need for Transparent AI Regulation in Healthcare, which explores the implications of AI use in clinical decision-making and the urgent need for transparency in healthcare algorithms.
