UC Carpentries 2024: Coding and Data Management Skills

Join us for a 9-day Carpentries workshop series to learn essential skills in R, Python, Unix Shell, Git, SQL, Tidy Data, and OpenRefine. This free workshop empowers researchers with the computing tools needed for research analysis.
Who can participate? Open to all University of California students, staff, postdocs, and faculty.
Free Workshop Schedule/Location:
- Dates: September 9th – 20th, 2024
- Times: 8:30am – 12:30pm (Mon-Thurs and one Friday)
- Location: Remote (via Zoom)
Workshop Curriculum:
- Introduction to Unix Shell: Learn the basics of command line interface and navigating within files and directories.
- Version Control with Git: Manage work, edit code, and collaborate on a team project in a repository.
- Introduction to R: Basic coding, data access, and data analysis functions using RStudio.
- Introduction to Python: Basic coding, data access, and data analysis functions using Jupyter Notebook.
- Tidy Data: Clean, transform, and track changes to data. – SQL: Relational databases, data import, and basic SQL queries.
